Is this REALLY Star Wars? (2009-03-23)
The first time I played this game, it seemed confusing, and then when I went into combat, it didn't seem very good. After 10 minutes, I thought, "WOW! THIS IS STUPID!" It really was! Then I found out that this game was a Strategy Game (I'm not fond of Strategy Games) Star Wars was never meant to be a Strategy game, it was meant to be an Action, Adventure, and Shooter kind of game. What do you think "War" means. War=Action, Adventure, Shooter. War doesn't= RP and Strategy games. This is the second Star Wars game that ever let me down! Please don't get it! Get Battlefront and Battlefront II, they're alot better!
Don't know...didn't work (2009-01-07)
My son has played it before and loves it. That is why we tried to purchase it even though it is an older game. Still lots of fun to play.
Bought it from "onlinedrivein" and he won't replace it or contact us, so now we will try and buy it again from another source.
star wars enough said (2009-01-04)
the game was scratch free, worked great, and i didnt pay much at all, all in all i was satisfied.
a fun but unworthy sequel (2008-12-21)
This game is the sequel to the original Knights of the Old Republic which was and still is one of the best games I've ever played. Unfortunately like most sequels this one doesn't quite measure up. There are some gameplay elements that were improved upon from the original, most notably the influence system, but in most other areas, the game was either no better or a step back.
The games two main problems are that is was clearly rushed to market before being properly finished and the storyline just wasn't as good. Some levels are two long, while others are clearly cut short or scraped altogether. The ending is largely unsatisfying and obviously patched together.
That's not to say that it's not a good game, as it is in fact one of my favorite rpgs. Its just unfortunate that Obsidian chose to rush this game to market.
Overall gameplay elements are preserved or improved upon from KOTOR and this was an enjoyable game and certainly worth a playthrough if you enjoyed the original.
Dissapointing when inevitably comparing it with the original (2008-09-25)
The original is one of my favorites ever. When I beat this I couldn't help feel disappointed. It just lacks on so many levels. First off the story is no where near as good as the first, but its not terribly bad. They probably could have made it better but it is often confusing and not all that interesting.
This one is much darker than the first which might please people. Everything else though isn't an improvement over the first though. The graphics are actually worse than the first. The game was rushed for the holidays though, still there's no excuse for the weak graphics and glitches this game has.
The characters, while pretty good just don't compare to the original. My main issue with the characters though is one character, which shouldn't even be in the game is GOTO. He doesn't offer anything to the game and is useless. It could have been better but they didn't do anything with him. Another character HK you can barely use until midway through the game, and that's if your lucky, I didn't get to use him at all. You have to spend the whole game getting parts to fix him. The rest of the characters are decent though.
Another issue is you don't get your lightsaber until about half way through the game. You spend too much time getting out of problems the story gets you into. For instance, probably the worst start to any game I have ever played is you start off on a mining station called Peragus. It takes a while until you get off and it's really frustrating. Then when you think your out you get blamed for the destruction of it, so you become under house arrest and it takes too long for the game to get going.
While this game may be more challenging overall than the first, the sith lords aren't even difficult or challenging. The game builds up for nothing. The other huge problem is the ending. I wont ruin the details but nothing happens. It's an extremely disappointing ending. You think that since you put so much time and effort into the game they would give you a decent ending but they don't. So play the original and don't buy this unless it is decently priced, it doesn't end up being worth 40 or 50 bucks.
